Beginning on 14 May 2016, a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal caused torrential rain to fall across Sri Lanka, causing floods and landslides which affected half a million people. As of 23 May 2016 the death toll was 92 and 109 missing.
Even though NewUse is aiming to give long term support and the organization not is fully up running yet, we had to act when this disaster happened so close. We collected money and flood relief items. Dinesh, Jørn and friends in Hikkaduwa spent hours shopping, packing and driving to affected areas to hand out relief items.
